Fibreglass/GRP is among the most popular materials for flat roofing in the UK, mostly because it's considered affordable, tough and reasonably long-lasting. Usually, this results in people making piecemeal repairs as they go along, replacing fibreglass sections on an as-and-when, ad hoc basis, eventually resulting in the classic "patchwork quilt" effect so often seen on fibreglass roofs. Multiple repairs such as this also undermine the overall weatherproofing and integrity of the roof, allowing water ingress through joins and seams.
