This residential car park in Belsize Park, Hampstead Heath, Camden (NW3) suffered a serious flood from the upper main road due to on-street rainwater drains being blocked solid from lack of maintenance. Although not historically a flood prone area, heavy rain and flooding wrought by climate change resulted in two houses and three apartments being flooded to a depth of one metre. This led residents to take preventive measures to decrease their reliance on external drain maintenance.
The roof of this gazebo summer house in Golders Green near Hendon Station in the London Borough of Barnet had originally been planned as a traditional (genuine) copper roof. The garden landscape designer's brief was for a high quality garden summer house - and in keeping with this the carpentry work for the hexagonal roof was of excellent workmanship.
For this new build roof in a conservation area in Uxbridge, Greater London, the owners opted for a copper alternative roof. For them, the aesthetic requirements were crucial, as they had to ensure that their new home's roof would fit in with the surrounding area and be acceptable to the authorities. They also wanted something modern, long lasting, fireproof, and of course waterproof and weatherproof!
